Introduction to Debate - Middle School

This middle school course introduces students to the fundamentals of debate structure, critical thinking, and argumentation. Through the study of current events and social studies, students will build foundational skills in analyzing real-world topics, constructing logical arguments, and engaging in thoughtful discussions. The class emphasizes developing essential skills that prepare students for more advanced debate formats and critical reasoning in various subjects.

    Kanza is a passionate and experienced speech and debate coach committed to helping students reach their full potential. 

    Currently, she is the head coach for Jasper High School’s Speech and Debate program in Plano, Texas. Before taking on this role, she coached students who made it to state finals in Texas, helping them achieve top-tier competitive success. Since 2019, she has served as a faculty member at the Harvard Summer Debate Council. 

    At Jasper Speech and Debate, she continues to coach students who have earned Best Speaker awards at national and local tournaments. Her coaching style emphasizes critical thinking, strategy, and personal growth. She is deeply committed to fostering both competitive success and a supportive environment for all my team members.

    She is excited to join CDA and looks forward to bringing her expertise, passion, and dedication to helping students thrive.

    CDA does not offer makeup classes, but students can easily stay on track using CDA’s custom online learning portal, which provides access to class recordings and assignments. They can also message their instructor for help offline during the week!
